Roll up your sleeves.

        Make the world better.

Oregon State University is a research
powerhouse because we want to make a
        diff erence. You can, too.

        At OSU-Cascades, undergraduate students work
alongside faculty researchers and in our Energy
Systems, FORCE, and Human and Ecosystem
        Resiliency and Sustainability Labs.

You can contribute to research that helps
restore river banks, keeps skiers safe in snowy
        mountains, nurtures vulnerable children and
encourages adults to live longer, happier lives.

        Matt Shinderman makes

        sustainability practical

A senior instructor in the natural resources
program, Matt looks at how the human and
natural worlds can better coexist. One example
is small, but powerful. He rallied student and
community volunteers to harvest native plants
from the wooded property where our new
campus now sits. After the campus buildings
        were completed, he coordinated transplanting
the plants into the new campus landscape. The
native plants need less water and maintenance,
and are used in fi eld class instruction.
