Former OSU basketball star, Gary Payton, is among seven elected players to the Naismith Memorial Hall of Fame. During his time at Oregon State Payton was nicknamed “The Glove” for his skills as a defensive player. In 1990 Payton was the No. 2 pick in the Draft. He averaged 16.3 points, 6.9 assists and 4.0 rebounds in 17 seasons. Payton is the all time leader in points,assists, and steals for Oregon State. After his time at OSU Payton spent the majority of his basketball career with the Seattle SuperSonics. He was also a member of the US Olympic Team in 1996 and 2000 where they took home gold medals.
