From the Office of the President, Dr. Edward J. Ray, President, Oregon State University, 1868

Dear OSU Alumni Association Board Members:

As you all no doubt know by now, OSU Alumni Association Executive Director Jeff Todd is leaving to lead the Alumni Association at the University of British Columbia.

This is a wonderful opportunity for Jeff and his family and a great loss for each of us on a personal as well as professional level. When I first came to Oregon State seven years ago, I felt that many of our alumni activities were well intentioned but not at the level of professional excellence that we need to realize our aspirations for this wonderful university. We have made welcome progress on many fronts, including the operation, management and planning for the Alumni Association. The creation of a strategic plan that supports the university’s strategic plan, the enhancement of collaboration with the OSU Foundation, other external relations offices and campus colleges and departments, and the broadening of Oregon Stater’s circulation from 22,000 to 142,000 are all accomplishments we can point to with pride. Jeff has done a wonderful job in building a solid team of colleagues at the Association, and the Board of Directors has become outstanding in recent years through your leadership and that of other dedicated Beavers.

In concert with Board President Penny Atkins and the Association management team, Provost Randhawa and I hope to complete details quickly on both the search and Association operations during the interim period. We will be looking for a new leader for the Association who can meet the organization at its current very high performance level and continue to make progress. With your support, I am confident we’ll succeed in this search, further brightening the future of alumni engagement at Oregon State University. (For your information, here is a link to a similar message shared this afternoon with the dedicated members of the OSUAA staff.)

Please join me in letting Jeff know how much we will miss his contributions to our community and in wishing him and his family well.

Edward J. Ray
