CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Oregon State University Alumni Association (OSUAA) has a new representative in the greater Portland and Seattle areas.
OSU alumnus Paul Cathcart is the association’s new assistant director for regional programs. He will develop, lead and coordinate alumni activities in and around the two cities. A resident of Portland’s Pearl District, Cathcart will staff the association’s new office in Portland’s Bank of California building, where members of the OSU Foundation staff will be among his neighbors.
A native of Hawaii, Cathcart graduated from the Kamehameha Schools. He received a bachelor’s in psychology from Oregon State in 1973, and served in the Army as a Signal Corps officer from 1974 until 1978. He went on to receive a master’s in educational counseling from Boston University in 1978 and an MBA from Pepperdine University in 1980.
For 23 years he worked for the Kamehameha Schools, a non-profit educational trust in Honolulu, where he served as a real estate asset manager for properties valued at more than $2 billion. After retiring he moved to La Pine, Ore., where he served as executive director of the La Pine Chamber of Commerce before relocating to Portland.
He is a former volunteer board member for OSUAA. “Paul’s background, experience, enthusiasm, and warm demeanor will become an asset to the university and the Alumni Association as we seek to build a more dynamic, predictable presence in two of our largest alumni population centers,” said Jeff Todd, executive director of the association. “His own experience as a community volunteer will help him to work effectively with our alumni leaders. Paul’s ability to engage alumni from a wide range of diverse backgrounds will also be of great value to our efforts.”
Cathcart can be reached through the association at (541) 737-2351, toll-free at 877-305-3759, or at email@example.com.
