CORVALLIS - Oregon State University's Air Force ROTC detachment is hosting an open house and tailgate party on Saturday, Nov. 10, for people interested in the Reserve Officers' Training Corps program.
The event is free and open to the public, but reservations are required. For information, contact the detachment at 541-737-6284 or 800-633-7352.
The event, which starts at 1 p.m. at OSU's McAlexander Fieldhouse, will have a tailgate party atmosphere, said Capt. David Fuller, OSU Air Force ROTC unit admissions officer.
Seminars on Air Force scholarships, the Civil Air Patrol, the Silver Talons Drill Team and the Arnold Air Society will be offered, he said, as well as tours of ROTC facilities. But barbecues will be fired-up and projection televisions will be available to watch the OSU vs. University of Washington football game.
The open house will continue throughout the game and will give visitors a chance learn about the ROTC as well as enjoy some good food and football, Fuller said.
Students enrolled in OSU's Air Force ROTC program can qualify for financial aid and commissions as second lieutenants while completing studies for undergraduate or graduate degrees. Oregon State University is one of only 48 institutions in the country offering education for all military departments - Air Force, Army and Navy.
