HEALTH CARE ISSUES
The PEBB Director has been invited to explain the process used in selecting the Providence Health Plan as the OUS health provider beginning January 2010 and will address concerns. We anticipate that representatives from both PEBB and Providence will be present.
A message was sent by Donna Chastain, OSU Employee Benefits Manager, notifying OSU employees participating in the PEBB health insurance programs of the change.

ACTION ITEMS
- Consideration of Degree Candidates
Kent Kuo, Registrar, will present the recommended lists of degree candidates for Senior Honors, Baccalaureate Degree Candidates, and Advanced Degrees. The Faculty Senate is asked to approve these candidates on behalf of the Faculty of the University. These candidates have been certified by the appropriate academic units, committees, and councils. Attached is the Registrar's Memorandum that outlines the policies and procedures for the review and approval for degree candidates.
- Standing Rules Revisions
Mary Strickroth, Committee on Committees Chair, will present for approval revisions to the following Standing Rules:

Jim Liburdy, Promotion and Tenure Committee Chair, will present revised college level recommendations. Note: this item was recommitted to the Promotion and Tenure Committee at the May Faculty Senate meeting.

Baccalaureate Core Ad Hoc Review Committee Update
John Bailey, Baccalaureate Core Ad Hoc Review Committee Co-chair, will present an update of the committee’s activities, namely the completion of Phase I; a draft report is available for viewing.

Joanne Sorte, OSU Interinstitutional Faculty Senate Senior Senator, provided a written recap of the June IFS meeting.
- Faculty Senate Special Session
The June 2, 2009 Faculty Senate Special Session focusing on budget issues can be viewed at http://oregonstate.edu/media/zsfkk.
- Annual Reports
Annual committee/council reports submitted by Faculty Senate chairs are due July 15 to allow committees/councils to fully report their activities through June 30. Annual reports will be published on the Faculty Senate website.
- Faculty Forum Paper
A Faculty Forum Paper titled ‘On Straining Out Gnats and Swallowing Camels,’ authored by David A. Bella, is available online at http://oregonstate.edu/senate/ffp/200905.html. Faculty Forum Papers were established in 1968 for the exchange of faculty opinions on any subject relevant to university affairs. - Vacancies
Please notify the Faculty Senate Office if a sabbatical, leave or retirement will prevent you from completing your term as either a Senator or Faculty Senate committee/council member. If you are away more than one term, exclusive of summer term, a replacement is required. This information will assist us in identifying a replacement. Senators and committee/council members immediately continuing on a 1040-hour appointment may retain their position as long as the temporary appointment continues or until the end of their appointed/elected term, whichever comes first.
- Faculty Senate Calendar
Please reserve the following dates for Faculty Senate meetings during fall term: October 8, November 12, and December 10. Check your monthly agenda to determine the location. All meetings are scheduled to begin at 3:00 PM.
