Category I Proposals
Carol Brown, Curriculum Council chair, will present for approval the following Category I proposals. Please note that the below proposals are linked to an abstract page; scroll down to where it says ‘Included Files’ and click on the proposal link. All Category I proposals now have an Executive Summary at the beginning of the proposal.

PERS Issues
Stan Gregory, Executive Committee member, and Donna Chastain, Staff Benefits Officer, will present findings of the Executive Committee and Human Resources related to the PERS reform of 2004. Two documents are linked to assist in explaining these findings: Comparison of Pension Programs and Review of Retirement Options for University Employees.

SET Task Force
The Faculty Senate Executive Committee is in the process of appointing an SET Task Force. The review of the current SET form and processes is in order to assure that OSU's process and approved forms for student input regarding teaching are the most current and most effective. The charge, context, timeline and composition are posted online.
- Shared Governance Task Force
The Faculty Senate Executive Committee and Academic Affairs are in the process of appointing a Joint Task Force on Shared Governance. The charge of the Joint Task Force is: To review and recommend policies and actions that will enhance the effectiveness of shared governance at all levels of the university.
- Awards Solicitation
Two new research awards have been approved and nominations are being accepted for presentation at University Day 2009; nomination materials for these two awards must be submitted by April 3, 2009:
- Promising Scholar Award - http://oregonstate.edu/senate/awards/nom/pscholar/
The Promising Scholar Award recognizes the scholarship of junior faculty and bestows upon the recipient the title “Promising Scholar” for the year following receipt of the award. The award consists of a $1,500 honorarium

OSU Impact Award for Outstanding Scholarship - http://oregonstate.edu/senate/awards/nom/impact/
The OSU Impact Award for Outstanding Scholarship recognizes OSU faculty who have demonstrated outstanding scholarship in a specific project or activity resulting in substantial impact beyond the university setting. The award consists of a $2,500 honorarium and the recipient will be invited to present highlights of their work at a one-hour presentation that is open to the public.
