Minutes - September 7, 2005
PRESENT: JoDee Bernal, Laurel Busse, Jean-Luc Devis, Jennifer Hall, Steve Fowler, Keahi McFadden, Karen Guthreau
University Day: September 20, 2005
We have a table reserved for University Day from 11:30 am - 1:30 pm. The following people volunteered to staff the table: Donetta Sheffold, Jennifer Hall, Keahi McFadden, Cheryl Lyons, Jo Dee Bernal, and Karen Guthreau.
Keahi will prepare a gift basket that will be given out in a drawing at the October membership meeting. The following people volunteered to work getting donations: Laurel (hotel stay), Jennifer (palm pilot), Rose (football tickets, key chains and pins, tortilla chips and salsa).
It was thought Scott has the PFLA banner. Jennifer thought Scott may be able to get an easel to display a blow up of the membership drive announcement. Rayetta has 50 brochures prepared. Well also have newsletters with membership forms on the table, and also membership forms only.
We will send newsletters to both past and new members through November 2005. After that only paid members will receive a copy. Jean-Luc needs to receive articles by September 13. We are still running into problems using the distribution lists. Jo Dee and Laurel will meeting with Becky Johnson, Academic Affairs, about this issue.
The wording is set, we are now waiting to hear back on the cost for engraving and hoping it will not be over $110.
OSU Training Days Table: November 14-15, 2005, 9:00 am - 4:00 pm
The table has been reserved. Further discussion will be held until next months meeting.
Fall Professional Development Conference:
We are in need of a speaker for our Fall Professional Development Conference. Paul Axtell will be here in November and his charge is $1,500 for a half day. Jo Dee will meet with Carlene prior to next months meeting to get some ideas.
Jo Dee has reserved the meetings rooms for this year. The cost for Marketplace West will be $50/month for the large meeting room and an additional $25 if we need to expend into the smaller room. We have the Gold Room reserved for December.

It was decided we need to devote a meeting to discussion of what things PFLA has accomplished for Professional Faculty (e.g., Murphy Award, Professional Development Funds, contract notice) and what we should focus on next.
Jean-Luc will design a certificate of appreciation to provide our monthly speakers.
Becky Johnson will be invited to be a guest at our Holiday Party.
We are running low on letterhead so will need to order more soon.
PFLA Door Prize Winners:
Winners of todays doors prices, which were two pair of basketball tickets were: Steve Shaw and Edie Blakeley.
Members from last year, new, and current members will be invited. It is a semiformal event. It will be held at President Rays house on Wednesday, October 12, from 5:30 - 7:00 pm.
We currently have 49 active members. Those eligible for to be associate members are: retirees, temporary professional faculty employees, temporary classified employees, and permanent classified employees.
Our Heros Award:
Jo Dee has not yet received nominations. Jennifer spoke with Debbie Jimmerson who says she submitted one.
