OPA - Oregon State University Postdoctoral Association

Welcome to OPA!

The Oregon State University Postdoctoral Association (OPA) aims to provide a network (social and professional) for all OSU-affiliated postdocs and a framework for liaising with and advising the Director of the Office of Postdoctoral Programs (OPP) at OSU. For the purposes of this organization, an OSU postdoc is defined as anyone who is affiliated with OSU and holds a PhD or equivalent degree, but does not hold a professorial position. The OPA is an auxiliary enterprise of the OSU Graduate School

OSU Industry Exploration Program presents: A panel discussion on "Career Paths outside Academia"

Less than 25% of all PhD graduates will stay in academic research [1]. The number of permanent positions available in academia is limited and it is therefore natural for the majority of PhDs to eventually look for other options. You are invited to explore these options in a panel discussion on “Career Paths outside Academia” co-organized by the OSU Postdoc Association through its Industry Exploration Program (IEP) and the OSU Graduate School.

Local professionals with a background in research, both from academia and industry, will act on the panel to answer your questions on the paths they have taken to a career outside academia. The event, taking place 10-11 am on March 12th in the Joyce Powell Journey Room (MU), is open for both graduate students and postdocs and will be limited to 50 attendees. Sign up here to secure your spot now!
