Amber's book for children, “An Algonquin Heart Song: Paddle My Own Canoe,” tells the story of a girl on a solo canoe trip, based on the life of Amber’s grandmother, Esther Keyser, the first female licensed guide in Algonquin Provincial Park during the 1930’s and 40’s. Esther’s story is told, with John, in “Paddling My Own Canoe.”
