The Oregon State Police have recently received multiple reports of unwanted physical contact. In all incidents the female victim was approached by a male suspect who asked for directions to a Corvallis location. In the first incident the suspect followed the victim for a short distance before fleeing the area.

With temperatures rising toward a forecast high of 47 and no significant snow accumulation forecast today, the university will open for regularly scheduled hours and operations. Travelers are encouraged to allow ample time for today’s commute, as road conditions continue to be wet and slushy.

No delay or closure is in effect for main campus.

As of 6:30am, Friday, January 20, 2012, Corvallis and Benton County are receiving a momentary break in rain fall, allowing some flood waters to recede. But many road conditions are still in effect.

Thursday at noon, Benton County Commissioner Jay Dixon signed a declaration of local emergency/disaster for the unincorporated areas of Benton County. Corvallis City Manager Jim Patterson also declared an emergency within the corporate limits of the City of Corvallis.

The Benton County Sheriff’s Office has put out an alert for high water in the region over the next several days. As Oregon continues to experience high winds and heavy rainfall, many rivers and streams are rising and could overflow their banks.

Oregon State University’s main campus will delay its normal opening time until 10 a.m. for Wednesday morning (Jan. 18), in light of potentially hazardous road conditions tomorrow. OSU-Cascades in Bend will be closed.

The following alert was circulated by the OSU Dept. of Public Safety and Oregon State Police on Saturday, Nov. 12, at 5 p.m.

Police have determined that no bullets or bullet holes were located at International House, 620 N.W. 27th St., where gunshots were heard around 6 Wednesday morning. It appears bullets were fired into the ground in an area south of the structure.
