OSU Study Abroad Program Deadlines

  • Summer, Fall, Year-Long Programs: February 15

Finish Your Application
Your application will not be considered until the following items are complete.
Application Fee: 
All study and internship applicants are required to pay an application fee. See the Application Fee page for details.
Letters of Reference: 

Two references are required of each applicant.

Required Essays: 

Three essays are required to be submitted by the application deadline.

Order Official Transcript: 

Order an official transcript to be sent to your study abroad advisor or program coordinator by the application deadline. Your program may require an additional official transcript if you are enrolling at a university abroad.

Order one transcript from each institution you have attended and have earned 15 credits or more.

OSU official transcripts can be ordered through the OSU Online Services student account or through the Office of the Registrar.

Interview: 
You will be contacted in March for a 30-minute interview with the program directors. Off-site students will be interviewed by phone.

Academic Planning Form: 
All students are required to complete this form. See the Academic Planning Form page for details.
Health Disclosure: 
All students are required to return this form. See the Health Disclosure Form page for details.
Prepare to Go Abroad
These preparations will ensure a safe, smooth transition abroad.
Passport: 
A passport valid for six months beyond your program is required. Apply for a passport immediately if you have not done so already. Visit travel.state.gov for an application.
Attend General Orientation: 
All students are required to attend general pre-departure orientation. View orientation dates and registration.
Attend Site-Specific Orientation: 
May, 15 2009 from 4-7 p.m.
Travel Clinic: 
All students are encouraged to visit their primary care provider before going abroad. Information about immunizations and travel health can be obtained from the Travel Medicine Clinic at Student Health Services.
Visa: 
No visa is required for U.S. citizens spending fewer than four months in Tunisia.
Insurance: 
Your program enrolls you in insurance for the duration of your participation. Review the insurance policy and carry additional claim forms and your insurance card with you abroad.
To Do at OSU
Grades and Credits: 
This program earns resident credit at OSU. Each course you take must be assessed for how the credit will be applied to your degree program. Save all coursework and syllabi while you are abroad and work with your study abroad advisor to establish your course equivalencies when you return.
Registration: 
IDEA will register you for 15 blanket credits per term you are abroad. You will not receive financial aid for the program unless you are registered. To be registered, your account must be free of any hold, and your OSU bill balance must be below $2,200.
Scholarships and Financial Aid
Financial Aid: 

File FAFSA and apply for financial aid for the term(s) of your program.

IDEA will submit a financial aid budget with your estimated cost of attendance to the Office of Financial Aid the term prior to your departure so that your aid award may be adjusted.

Use this form to estimate the total cost of your attendance on the program. Visit the Budget Worksheet page for details.
