The Mission: As a Land-Grant University, provide OSU students with outstanding international academic opportunities that develop their international/intercultural knowledge, skills, and awareness for the future needs of the state of Oregon through effective management of education abroad programs and the International Degree; ethical and supportive advising; and collaboration with other OSU units and exterior international education organizations.
The IDEA office is a “mini-university.” The IDEA office recruits and enrolls ID and Education Abroad students; advises and orients them; welcomes them back upon return and assists them with processing their experiences; processes their credit; for ID students - assists in the degree audit process; collaborates with various offices on campus to create policies for all of the above; assesses and responds to risk and security issues overseas; creates agreements for collaboration with institutions worldwide; collaborates with the alumni and foundation offices to inform alumni of IDEA programs and outcomes and raise scholarship funds for future IDEA students; and collaborates with Academic Programs and the SAAC to review new proposals, evaluate existing programs and assess learning outcomes for IDEA programs.
