What is Crossroads International?
Crossroads is a group of volunteers from the community that help enrich the experience of international students and build a bridge between people in the community and international students and scholars at Oregon State University. Crossroads International invites you to join us in extending friendship, hospitality and education.
Nearly 1,000 students from more than 80 countries enroll at OSU each year, and as many as 450 visiting faculty are on campus during the academic year. Crossroads International is a community volunteer organization that provides friendship, hospitality, and language assistance for OSU's international students and visiting scholars. Crossroads welcomes volunteers in the mid-Willamette Valley who would like to reach out in friendship to these international visitors. Established in 1969, Crossroads is a recipient of OSU's Distinguished Service Award.
The Benefits of Membership:
- Invitations to Crossroads Member events, such as potlucks, Welcome Receptions for new students, activities at the Welcome Center for newly arriving international students or faculty
- Invitation to join Crossroads' online database, where you can look at requests and opportunities (such as Home Stay requests, Language partner requests, Conversation Groups in various languages)
- Advance notice of special activities or events, such as Film Festival Passports and tie-in activities, as well as educational events
- Opportunities to host newly arriving international students or serve as conversants or Friendship Hosts
- Invitation to President Ray's December reception for international scholars
