This course was developed with the help of OSU Statewide (now called
OSU Extended Campus). Distance education courses usually involve the efforts
of many individuals, and this course is no exception. I am grateful to
OSU Statewide for providing financial support during course development.
I thank Craig Anderson (Communication Media Center, OSU) for coordinating
video production; Jennifer Goodridge (Botany and Plant Pathology, OSU)
and Sam Leininger (Environmental Sciences, OSU) for expert help with demonstrating
field techniques; and Mark Patterson (Botany and Plant Pathology, OSU)
for his generosity in sharing his photographs, scanner, and expertise.
Special thanks go to Jon Dorbolo (Communication Media Center, OSU) for
advice and encouragement throughout the development of this course.
I am also grateful for the patience, enthusiasm, and feedback of the
pioneering students who took Field Methods in Vegetation Science during
its initial offering in Fall Term 2000.
