Luca De Stefanis joined the Institute for Natural Resources in the summer of 2012 after a decade of experience in the areas of environmental and conservation analysis, planning and design having worked throughout North America and Europe. Currently, he is working on his Master's degree at Oregon State University in Environmental Policy with a minor in business through the PSM program and a second Master's in Natural Resource Management - Water Conflict Management. Luca recently finished an externship working for U.S. Senator Jeff Merkley focusing on environmental policy issues related to land and water on behalf of INR. He is presently on an externship from INR to The White House, Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ) in Washington, D.C. where he is working on a Climate Adaptation Team to develop strategies for implementation of U.S. President Barack Obama’s Climate Action Plan. Luca's policy interests are climate adaptation, preparedness and resilience, water resources, sustainable land use development, collaborative governance and conflicts over natural resources. On his free time Luca enjoys global travel when the opportunity lends itself and when at home in Oregon he prefers road biking, collecting jazz records, backpacking in the Cascades, drinking strong coffee, Italian rustic cooking and exploring the beautiful Pacific Northwest.
