Change ONID Password

ONID is currently undergoing a change that will allow users to change a forgotten password eaiser then previously. This means that there are currently more ways to change a password than the normal methods.

IF you have NOT changed your password after September 12th, and have NOT entered in alternate contact information, follow the directions in the first link below.

IF you have changed your password or created your ONID account AFTER September 12th, follow the directions in the second link below.

IF you have NOT changed your password after September 12th, but HAVE entered in alternate contact information you will also need to use the second link below.

Change/Reset ONID Password - Modified before Sept. 12th 2012

If your ONID account was created before Septemeber 11th 2012 follow the directions below to change or reset your ONID password.

How To Reset/Change Your ONID Password

If you know your current password:

  1. Go to http://onid.oregonstate.edu/
  2. Click "Login To ONID" in the left hand column.
  3. Login with your current ONID credentials.
  4. Click "Change Password" in the left hand column.
  5. Follow the steps to changing your password.

NOTE: This Method will still work if your ONID password has expired 

If you do not know your username or password:

  1. Go to http://onid.oregonstate.edu/
  2. Click "Change Password" in the left hand column.
  3. Chose the second option that says "If you do NOT know your username or password, click here..."
  4. Fill in the Identify Yourself information (OSU ID? #, BirthDate, First Name, Last Name)
  5. You will be taken to a page where it states "You have not set your Alternate Contact Information..."
  6. Click on the link which state "use the old password reset method"
    (You can use the videos below for an easy refernce for steps 7 & 8)
  7. Fill in your OSU ID Number and the General Access Pin (GAP?, 6 Digits) and click Submit
  8. You will then be asked to enter a new password twice and then click submit.

Change/Reset ONID Password - Modified after Sept. 11th 2012

If you know your current password:

  1. Go to http://onid.oregonstate.edu/
  2. Click "Login To ONID" in the left hand column.
  3. Login with your current ONID credentials.
  4. Click "Change Password" in the left hand column.
  5. Follow the steps to changing your password.

NOTE: This Method will still work if your ONID password has expired

ONID Password Reset: Identify Yourself

  1. To start the process for resetting a forgotten password for your account, you will need to go to:
  2. Click on the Login to ONID, and then click the link, Help! I forgot my password, below the login field.  
  3. You will need to fill in your OSU ID? (from your ID card), birth date, first name, and last name, then click the Submit button.

Identify Yourself for ONID sign up (OSU ID Number, Birth date, First Name, Last Name)

Password Reset (New)

  1. If you have entered alternate contact information you will be presented with a Send PIN button, click this button and you will receive either a text and/or email, depending on what you provided as your alternate contact info, with a 6-Digit pin code.
  2. Put the pin code into the input field and then click the Submit button.

Setting a new ONID password

  1. The next page will ask you to create a new password. Type in your password twice and then click the "set password" button.

  2. Note: Please remember to read the restrictions and suggestions prior to creating your new password. Also pay attention to the password strength meter to make sure you have a strong password

  3. Once you have click "set password" you will should be taken to a page that states your password has been successfully changed and you have now completed your ONID password reset
