AFAPC Organizes 2011-12 Film Series

AFAPC is an organization of faculty committed to making OSU a more inclusive environment, where people of color can better thrive and succeed personally and professionally. Established in the summer of 1999 as a formal coalition and currently over 60 members strong, AFAPC is led by:
Dwaine Plaza, Co-Chair, Department of Sociology
Patti Sakurai, Co-Chair, Department of Ethnic Studies

Recent concerns of AFAPC include:

  • Campus Promotion and Tenure Process Review (with President's Commission on the Status of Women and the Faculty Senate Promotion and Tenure Committee)
  • Recruitment and retention of faculty of color
  • Tracking faculty of color who leave OSU and why
  • Mentoring of young faculty and staff of color
  • Salary parity for faculty and staff of color
  • Accountability of deans, directors, and department chairs to the commitment and intent of the institutional and unit Diversity Action Plans
  • Better recognition/acceptance of service for promotion & tenure
  • The "other" minority: Issues for Muslim and Arab faculty & students
  • Support and longevity of campus cultural centers
  • Supporting the efforts of students as they seek to adjust to and improve the racial climate at OSU
  • Critical Points for Diversity in the OSU Strategic Plan
  • Coordinated and bi-directional activities and efforts with the President's Board of Visitors for Minority Affairs
