OSU Day at the Capitol
Mark your calendars! Beavers will invade the Oregon Capitol on April 17, 2013. Stay tuned for details as the event nears.
OSU Day is one of the most visible advocacy days in Salem and reminds legislators of OSU’s role as one of only two land-, sea-, sun- and space-grant universities in the country.
Highlights from OSU Day 2011 include:
Opening floor ceremonies: OSU Color Guard, OSU Chamber Choir, Senate Invocation by OSU’s Kelly Benoit-Bird, 2010 recipient of the MacArthur “genius” award, and selected visitors on the Senate Floor with Senators who are OSU alumni.
All Day: Individual meetings with legislators, booths in the Galleria, pictures with Benny, and more.
11:30-4:00: Health Fair with OSU's Pharm.D. students, Capitol Galleria. Blood pressure and blood glucose screenings, allergy and medication consultations.
Noon: Forum for interested legislative staffers and others on OSU’s Master of Public Policy program.
2:00: OSU Political Science Professor and OPB Political Commentator Bill Lunch, “The 2011 Legislative Session So Far.”
4:00 – 4:30: An open session with Corvallis legislators Sen. Frank Morse and Rep. Sara Gelser.
4:30 – 6:00: Reception in the Capitol Galeria, including an award for the smartest legislator in the Assembly. Each year legislators are challenged to move to the head of the class by demonstrating how much they know about OSU. Test your Beaver knowledge - take the OSU "Quizz". See how you did - "Quizz" answers.
