The agenda for the December Senate meeting will include the reports and other items of business listed below.
A. ACTION ITEMS
  1. Executive Committee Election

    See attached biographical sketches. Voting will take place during the meeting by Senators, proxies, and ex-officio members only. Three people will be elected for two-year terms beginning January 2003. Continuing EC members are: Dianne Erickson, Science; Angelo Gomez, Associated; and Janet Nishihara, Student Affairs.

  2. Category I Proposal - Creation of a School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science

    Nan Scott, Curriculum Council Chair, will present for approval a Category I proposal to Create a School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science

B. SPECIAL REPORTS
  1. Faculty Senate Election Results

    President Rosenberger will report on the outcome of the election for Faculty Senate President-Elect and Interinstitutional Faculty Senate Senator.

  2. Athletics Advisory Board Subcommittees


    3. Susan Shaw, Athletics Advisory Board Chair, will briefly inform faculty of newly formed subcommittees of the Athletics Advisory Board.

  3. PERS Update


    4. Bruce Sorte, Faculty Senate President-Elect, will present a revised PERS resolution.

  4. Professional Faculty Issues Group


    5. Anthony Wilcox, Professional Faculty Issues Group Chair, will present the draft report from the Issues Group.


C. DISCUSSION ITEM
  1. OSU-2007

    Sabah Randhawa, Institutional Unit Management co-chair, will present recommendations with particular attention to Recommendation #2, Administrative Structure and Processes

D. INFORMATION ITEMS
  1. Farewell to President and Mrs. Risser


    2. You are invited to an all-campus farewell for President and Mrs. Risser on December 8 from 4:00-6:00 PM in the MU Lounge.

  2. Reflections on Scholarship - Peer Evaluation of Teaching


    3. For those of you who were not able to attend the November 19 presentation of the Forum on Faculty Rewards and Evaluation, it is available on the web - please note that Real One Player is required to view and hear this streaming.
  3. New Senator Orientation


    4. The New Senator Orientation will be held January 9. If you are a continuing Senator, but were not able to attend the orientation when you were elected, please contact the Faculty Senate Office at 737-4344 if you would like to attend the upcoming session.

  4. 1040 Hour Appointments


    5. Faculty whose Senate terms extend beyond December 31, 2002 and who have accepted 1040 hour appointments are no longer eligible to serve as a Senator. If you fall into this category, please contact the Faculty Senate Office at 737-4344 so a replacement can be appointed to complete the remainder of your term.

    Some faculty who serve on Senate committees/councils, and who are on 1040 hour appointments, may also be ineligible to continue serving. If the committee/council that you serve on does not specifically allow emeritus faculty, or if you are unsure, please contact the Faculty Senate Office so a determination may be made and/or a replacement identified.
