Grants Pass has moist, cool winters and cool, dry summers and supports mixed coniferous forest with fir, pine and Douglas Fir.


This site is slightly warmer and higher than Grants Pass and gets substantially more moisture. This area supports Cedar, Hemlock and Douglas Fir forests.


Ashland is dryer and cooler than Cave Junction and has mixed conifer on the wetter sites of Cedar, Hemlock and Douglas Fir. The drier sites support Ponderosa Pine. There are open annual grasslands on the dry hillsides and lower elevations.
