LaGrande is bluebunch wheatgrass/bluegrass vegetation area. It has mixed conifers on the uplands.
Wallowa is cooler and slightly higher than LaGrande and it supports a grassland of wheatgrass and poa, with mixed conifer on the uplands.
Ukiah is higher and cooler than Wallowa. The vegetation is dominated by Artemisia and Wheatgrass.
