Redmaid (Calandrinia ciliata) leaves are simple with smooth margins.  They are fleshy (typical of plants in the family Portulacaceae) and resemble a snake's head in shape.

Leaves are slightly pubescent, with hairs mostly visible on the leaf margins.

The midrib is obvious along the leaf surface, though other veins are less visible.
