Habit Foliage Flowers
Stems
Curly dock (Rumex crispus) flowers occur in terminal panicles and
axillary clusters.
Above the image shows that most flowers occur in panicles or branched racemes.
Below is shown that flowers also develop in axillary clusters.
In early spring, flower clusters appear as large, white, conical clusters.
Open flowers are apetalous (they don't have petals), a characteristic of
all plants in this family. Generally they appear as green clusters.
Upon closer examination, one finds 6 sepals and a persistent calyx.
