Broadleaf dock (Rumex obtusifolius) seedlings
are easy to recognize.
Cotyledons are narrow and somewhat elliptical. First true leaves are
chordate (heart shaped).
In the image below, the pen serves as a visual scale for determining size.
You know the old saying, "The apple doesn't fall far from the tree"? Well,
that seems to be the case for broadleaf dock seed. I've seen this occur
many times, where seeds to fall within inches of the mother plant and germinate.
