Dwanee receives award

Dwanee Howard, center, receives the ‘Our Hero’ award.

Dwanee Howard, assistant to the director of the School of History, Philosophy and Religion, has been recognized as the Professional Faculty Leadership Association’s March 2014 ‘Our Hero.’

Howard was presented with the award during a meeting on March 25. Her nominator said that she was the most dedicated professional she’d ever met, putting everything she has into creating an efficient, supportive environment for students, staff and faculty.

“Dwanee is an irreplaceable asset, and I would love to see her recognized for her incredible work,” her nominator wrote.

Howard has recently helped members of the school relocate to Milam Hall so that all faculty members could be located in the same building. She handles every problem imaginable, from dealing with a faculty member’s leaky office to arranging travel plans for a guest speaker to making sure students are well taken care of.

“She truly puts the good of the School first,” her nominator wrote. “I cannot say enough about her value to the faculty and students in our School.”

Howard received a certificate and an orchid.
