Giovannoni honored for microbiology work
Stephen Giovannoni, Pernot Endowed Chair and Professor, Department of Microbiology, was honored with the 2011 Procter & Gamble Award in Applied and Environmental Microbiology, which recognizes distinguished achievement in research and development in applied and environmental microbiology.
Giovannoni researches microbial diversity, genomics and ecology in oceanic ecosystems. He founded the High-Throughput Culturing Laboratory at OSU, and is founding editor for “Annual Reviews of Marine Science.”
