Pederson was recognized for being instrumental at Oregon State by creating partnerships across campus, raising funds for the Open Source Lab, and working with campus departments to look for ways to improve their situations. According to his nominators, he encourages his team and others to look forward, not back, and be inspired to find the answers to the extremely difficult problems and questions that everyone is facing today.

Pederson’s assistant, Donetta Sheffold, praised Pederson’s cheerful spirit.

“Even in the most adverse conditions, Curt lives his life with a smile and quite often a joke or two. He builds relationships with others,” she said. “Curt has built bridges with others to create something wonderful for OSU.”

He received a certificate and a rose from a group of PFLA members to honor his outstanding work.
