Star Jasmine, Confederate Jasmine               tra-ke-lo-SPER-mum jaz-min-OY-dez

• Broadleaf evergreen twining vine/ground cover, 10-20 ft (3-6 m) tall when supported, about 2 ft tall as a ground cover.  Stem exudes a milky sap when cut.  Leaves simple, opposite, leathery, elliptic-oblong to oblanceolate, 2-6 cm long, tapered at both ends, lustrous dark green above and paler below, petiole about 5 mm long, pubescent.  Flowers white, 2.5 cm wide, five petals, pin-wheel shape, in small clusters, fragrant, bloom in summer.
• Full sun, partial shade in hot areas. Prune yearly after flowering to keep it in bounds.
• Hardy USDA Zone (7) 8      Native to Japan and China.
