Hicks Hybrid Yew, Hicks Imtermediate Yew               TAKS-us MEE-di-a

• Evergreen conifer, shrub, narrowly columnar, wider with age, 10-12 ft (3-4 m) tall, about 2-3 times taller than wide, top of plant wider than base, erect shoots.  Needles distinctly 2-ranked on lateral shoots, 25-30 mm long, 3 mm wide, glossy dark green above, light green below.  Apparently female (typical red fruit) and male forms (without fruit).
• Sun or part shade.  Grows best in fertile, moist soil with good drainage.  A popular yew.
• Hardy to USDA Zone 4  Developed from seed of Taxus cupidata 'Nana' in about 1900 at a New York nursery.  Several forms in the trade.
