- Broadleaf deciduous shrub, to 10 ft (3 m) tall and possibly greater width, but can be kept much smaller. Salmon pink stems. Leaves opposite (and sub-opposite), simple, variegted, new leaves pink, white with green, in summer becoming green bloched with white.
- Partial sun. Cut back in winter to encourage shoot growth.
- Hardy to USDA Zone 4 Introduced from Japan
in 1979 by the Dutch botanist Harry van de Laar.
