- Deciduous shrub, 2-4 ft (0.6-1.2 m) tall, similar width, rounded, branches prostrate to ascending. Leaves small, nearly circular, 5-15 mm long, coarse rounded teeth, glossy.
- Part shade. Moist and swampy sites in cool areas, but tolerates dry sites and is used in rock gardens.
