- Broadleaf deciduous tree, dense, broadly oval to rounded, to about 45 ft (14 m) high and 40 ft (12 m) wide, straight trunk. Leaves simple, opposite, reddish to maroon in spring, later a dark bronzy green; fall color yellow, orange or bronzy.

- Hardy to USDA Zone 3b Selected by John Mathies in 1967 from a seedling of Schwedleri introduced by the Cannor nursery of Chilliwack, B.C. about 1975 (Jacobs, 1996). Plant Patent PP4944 (1982).
