So I’ve been trying to write this post for about 10 minutes, except I made the dreadfull mistake of holding the shift key down to long and entered Sticky Key mode. For those of you that don’t know what that is, its some sort of function that makes it like you’re pressing the shift key ALL the time. While I must admit, this could be helpful at times, I don’t think that anyone actually uses it, and its horribly confusing to turn off again, and in my angst in this attempt, I some how also entered the Filter Key mode, WTF!?!? All I wanted to do was make a post, thanks a lot Microsoft, you just made the insanely easy insanely difficult.

Now for the real content you care about, if you haven’t noticed, there is now a Forum page, yes the Forums have made a triumphant return, so you can post all your thoughts, suggestions, chemistry homework answers, and get information about the station all from one place. Content will be added in the next few days, so check in and for pete’s sake (hey that’s me!!) post something!! In related news, the schedule will be up as soon as we get done putting the finishing touches on it.

    Giant brain Balloon

    By kbvrfmnews | February 28, 2008

Sometimes I think OSU might be just a bit behind the times.  Take a look at this event that took place at Georgia State University.

    http://biology.gsu.edu/brainballoon/

YES!  That’s right it’s a giant Balloon shaped like a multicolored brain.  The idea was to make an “extreamlly noticeable” inflatable brain that a team of Neurosurgeons could float around in to raise awareness about neuroscience where ever it is needed most.

    CAMEL FIGHTING

    By kbvrfmnews | February 19, 2008

Once again some more epic news.

    http://www.atamanhotel.com/camel.html

I thought camels were known for spiting, but this site shows camels in a whole new way.  This is a sport that takes place in Turkey with camels specially bred to fight each other.  There are also a panel of judges that grade the fight.  The fight takes place between two male camels when a desirable female camel is brought into the arena.  Check out the site!

    White Mike

By pete the webguy | February 19, 2008

Check out this review of White Mike by our very own Tom Boykin…………………
Attention: White Mike cannot make beats

There are three things that make a good hip-hop album: good beats, good vocals and good production value. White Mike’s album “Famous” has mediocre beats, poor-to-mediocre vocals and fair production value.

Let’s talk beats, the foundation of an album. White Mike made his own beats for “Famous” with a little help. Note to future MCs: DO NOT try to make your own beats unless you are reasonably good at it. Case in point, most of the beats on this album sound like they came from a combination of a Mattel keyboard and that guy down the street who plays guitar. The snares/claps sound dull, and overall the drums don’t pack a lot of punch. The bass is good on some of the tracks, but that doesn’t save White Mike’s lackluster beat-smithing.

Next up on the chopping block: vocals. Sometimes the lyrics are good; White Mike’s got a little of a witty side. But sometimes the lyrics are not so good. Example: White Mike is from Pleasanton, Calif. (Pleasanton is to San Francisco what Lake Oswego is to Portland ), so he feels the need to “rep the Yay Area.” Yeah right. Tracks like “I’m From Tha Bay” would more accurately be called “Care Bears Get Hyphy,” because I’m pretty sure White Mike doesn’t go gas-brake dippin’ in his ‘98 Ford Explorer. In the songs that aren’t about yellow bus riders, White Mike does have some really interesting rhymes, but the delivery just falls flat. He sounds like the relatively popular guy who for some reason never got a job after college and still lives at home with mom and dad and now he’s banking on his rap career. Let’s hope that being “famous” helps him out some.

The good part of White Mike’s “Famous” is the production value. The songs are well-mixed and mastered professionally. A few of them even feature decent singers. But when this polish is applied to bogus beats and less-than-stellar raps, it really doesn’t help the album to shine

Response From White Mike on Teh Myspace!!!123:

come on bro look at you. which one of us is REALLY driving the Ford Explorer that their parents bought them? lol your info on my background was incorrect (although I am from pleasanton). I try not to get pissed about “bloggers” like you but it’s good though. Thanks for the review

    Here’s an idea….

    By kbvrfmnews | February 12, 2008

If you love listening to music and are always searching for new extreme environments to maximize your listening experience then this news post is for YOU!

I’m not going to lie I often wondered what it would be like to listen to music underwater, and that voracious curiosity of mine was satisfied when I came across this website>>

    http://www.lowerkeyschamber.com/underwatermusicfest.htm

This is a underwater music festival with over 500 divers that takes place in the Florida keys. The music being played ranged from “Octopus Garden” by the Beatles to Jimmy Buffet’s “Fins. The underwater concert also incorporated serious messages about the preservation of the Florida keys in between jam sessions.

Be sure to visit the site for some of the epic pictures.
