This great three-dimensional community map allows users of all ages to visually demonstrate the flow of water, run off, and point and non-point pollutants in a watershed. Students can set up different situations and practice problem solving skills to gain a better understanding of how human and animal activity can affect the water quality in a community. Areas included on the model include: construction, residential, forest, agriculture, transportation and industrial. Sponges represent wetlands and show the water absorption and water holding capacity of wetlands. Constructed wetlands are represented with felt swatches. EnviroScape Wetlands demonstrates the basic functions, different types, and values of inland and coastal wetland areas. In addition to how human factors affect wetlands, users will understand what activities negatively affect wetlands and learn how they can help conserve wetlands.
