Flyfisher's Club of Oregon Graduate Fellowship

Objective

The purpose of the Flyfisher's Club of Oregon Graduate Fellowship is to provide support for graduate students pursuing a course of study involving any one of the endemic wild stocks of fish within watersheds of the State of Oregon.

Eligibility

To be eligible, students must:

  1. qualify for regular admission to a graduate degree program in one of the following colleges:
    1. College of Agricultural Sciences
    2. College of Forestry
    3. College of Oceanic and Atmospheric Sciences
    4. Nominations from relevant interdisciplinary programs will also be considered
  2. pursue a course of study involving any of the endemic wild stocks of fish within watersheds of the State of Oregon. Research topics might include life histories, diseases, population dynamics, inter-relationships with other aquatic species, essential habitat needs, or management and restoration approaches.
  3. financial need shall not be a criterion in making this award

Fellowship Award

One fellowship of up to $4,750 will be provided during the 2008-09 academic year, pending continuation funding. All fellowships awarded under this program shall be for one academic year.

Nomination Procedures

Academic units must submit a letter of nomination from the department head/chair or interdisciplinary program director that demonstrates the candidate's merit and the relevance of his/her research focus as meeting fellowship eligibility criteria. Two additional letters of recommendation, the student's curriculum vita or résumé, the student's statement of academic objectives, and copies of transcripts of all prior work must accompany the nomination. Departments may submit only one nomination.

Nomination Deadline

Nominations must be received in the Graduate School by May 27, 2008.
