Parking management on the Oregon State University campus is established by Oregon Revised Statutes and defined by Oregon Administrative Rules. Rules & Regulations
Everyone driving on the OSU campus is responsible for understanding the driving and parking regulations on campus. All standard city and state rules and regulations are observed at OSU.
Listed below are general rules for parking on campus:
- All vehicles parked on OSU property are required to observe posted parking and traffic signs.
- Posted signage takes precedence over written regulations
- Insufficient parking availability is not a valid reason for violating parking regulations.
- Notify Transit & Parking Services if your vehicle becomes inoperable to avoid citations.
- Vehicles abandoned on campus for more than 72 hours may be towed at the owner’s expense.
- An immobilizing wheel boot may be placed on vehicles with excessive unpaid citations.
- Pedestrian traffic shall have the right of way over vehicle traffic on university property.
- OSU assumes no liability for personal injury or for the care and/or protection of any vehicle or its contents, while the vehicle is operated or parked on campus.
- Report stolen permits to the Oregon State Police immediately.
- All motor vehicles parked in permitted areas on campus must display a parking permit Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm.
- Loading zones are exclusively for loading and unloading with a maximum time of 10 minutes unless otherwise posted.
- Blocking fire lanes, building entrances or walkways is not permissible. Please park in locations that still allow free passage for emergency vehicles and pedestrians.
- Students driving staff permitted vehicles must park in student lots.
- OSU parking permits are reciprocal with the U of O and OSU Cascades campus.
Displaying Permits
Hangtag permits should be displayed on the rearview mirror and be visible from the outside. Paper permits should be displayed on the driver's side dash, visible from the outside. Motorcycle, motor scooter and moped permits shall be affixed to the front or rear fender and be clearly visible.
Replacement Permits
Notify Oregon State Police (541-737-3010) and Transit & Parking Services (541-737-2583) immediately if a permit is lost or stolen. Replacement permits may be obtained at the TAPS office upon completion of the proper forms. There is a $25 replacement fee.
If you find a permit that is not your own, please return it to the TAPS office. Permit ownership is non-transferable. The display of a permit that has been reported lost or stolen carries a $250 fine and possible criminal prosecution.
Disabled Vehicles
If your vehicle becomes disabled, and you cannot move it right away, call TAPS at (541) 737-2583 or Public Safety Dispatch (541) 737-3010.
Disabled Parking
Disabled spaces require both an OSU parking permit and a valid DMV placard. This policy is enforced at all times. With a valid DMV placard, any meter that has a time limit of more than 30 minutes does not require payment.
