Research Project Title: Understanding changes in young adults’ depressive symptoms
Project Overview: New and existing data on international and domestic college students will be used to clarify the associations that biological (e.g., inflammation) and psychosocial (e.g., stressful life events, acculturative stress) risk factors have with changes in depressive symptoms.
What skills will students obtain in this project?
Students will learn to: conduct and interpret basic data analyses using longitudinal and cross-sectional data; synthesize research literature on an area of their interest; develop a new protocol for research on human subjects in coordination with campus collaborators.
Student research tasks:
Participate in weekly team meetings and monthly collaborator meetings, write and informally present journal article summaries, assist with data cleaning and management, assist with preparation of training scripts for data collection, present study results at OSU research conference.
Number of hours per week expected of student: 8-10
