Juvenile salmonid life history reconstruction

Historical data collected by Willis Rich (1920) provided the base line for the reconstruction of juvenile chinook salmon life history in the Columbia River estuary.  Pre-existing contemporary data was collected and used for comparison with historic presence of juveniles.  To complement the comparison, the factors that may have contributed to the difference were examined.

Landscape scale habitat change analysis
Project initiated: August 2001
Project status: initial stages
Using a landscape scale spatial analysis in a GIS, this project will quantify changes habitat and river attributes (connectivity of habitats, shoreline changes, etc.) in the estuary using habitat maps from the late 1800s and contemporary satellite imagery..
