HEALTHY CAMPUS TEAMS
Purpose of the Healthy Campus Teams
The Healthy Campus Teams is a collaborative approach to prevention initiatives
and response efforts at Oregon State University. The coalition provides for strategic planning, policy review and development, ongoing training and development, assessment of situations and outcomes, and comprehensive, interconnected leadership for the campus community. The coalition will develop common resources for faculty, staff, and students.
Healthy Campus Teams:
- Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT)
- Contact: Jackie Balzer, Dean of Student Life
- Purpose: To assess and coordinate the response to significant campus situations and events which require intervention in order to assist
the community and its members to return to a more homeostatic state of functioning.
- Bias Response Team (BRT)
- Contact: Jackie Balzer, Dean of Student Life
- Purpose: To assess and coordinate the student services response to campus bias incidents.
- Infectious Diseases Incident Response Team (IDRT)
- Contact: Phil Histand, Student Health Services Interim Director
- Purpose: To collaboratively determine and implement strategies for prevention, control, and preparedness of communicable disease issues and health threats to the university community.

- Sexual Assault Response and Prevention Alliance (SARPA)
- Contact: Linda Anderson, Sexual Assault Support Services Coordinator

- Purpose: The Sexual Assault Response and Prevention Alliance (SARPA) was developed to strengthen collaboration and coordination
of sexual violence response and prevention initiatives at Oregon State University. Full text of purpose statement
- Health and Wellness Task Force
- Contact: Pat Ketcham, Health Promotion Associate Director, Student Health Services
- Contact: Malinda Shell, Health Educator
- Purpose: Review policies and make recommendations on issues related to a healthy campus community, identify environmental factors that
detract from, or contribute to, a healthy university climate, advise and inform the President's Cabinet concerning issues of campus health and
support the work of Campus Prevention and Incident Response Teams.
- Suicide Awareneness Task Force (SATF)
- Contact: Ross Artwohl, MSW, Counseling & Psychological Services
- Alcohol Work Group (AWG)
- Purpose: To address underage and excessive alcohol use issues at Oregon State University by developing a comprehensive strategic plan
for creating a safe and healthy environment on campus and in the surrounding community.
CONFIDENTIALITY
The members of Healthy Campus Teams, as administrative agents in an educational institution,
adhere to the laws and standards governing the disclosure of information to third party both within
and external to the University. Such information is only disclosed on an administrative need to know
basis and only according to the relevant statutes that govern such disclosure.
The Student Health Services and the Counseling and Psychological Services are governed by additional
laws and ethical codes regarding the disclosure of information (medical and psychological records)
to third parties of clients or patients under their care.
USE OF EMAIL
Email may be used by the Healthy Campus Teams to communicate information and actions taken in situations
that are being responded to and dealt with by units within the Coalition. Efforts are made to protect
the identity of students involved by using discretion in the use of personally identifying information,
especially on updates and follow-up messages. It is acknowledged that e-mail is not considered a secure
or confidential means of communication but will be utilized by the Coalition for timely notification.
In relevant correspondence Team members use the following statement on all e-mails:
"This email (including attachments) contains confidential student information.
Further disclosure may be a violation of FERPA. Do not forward or copy the message."
