Why does the Event Calendar use the word 'at' instead of the at sign in the e-mail field?

On the OSU Events Calendar, for users who are not logged into ONID, the @ (at) sign will display the word 'at'.  The reason this occurs is because when a full e-mail is included, unguarded, in a web page, the e-mail address can be 'harvested' by web crawling spam bots, which save the address into their databases and then repeatedly spam the person whose e-mail was left unguarded.
