How can I restrict a view?

The Views User Interface provides a default setting that will allow you to restrict access to a view.  Please keep in mind that this does not restrict access to content itself.

This FAQ assumes the user has a view established already and understands the basic Views UI composition.

  1. Go to Admin menu > Site building > Views and locate your view in the list.
  2. Click your view's edit link to open it for editing.
  3. Once inside your view, look within the Basic Settings group for the Access element and click on the word Unrestricted. This will open a drawer at the bottom of the views panel with the following access restriction options:
    1. None
    2. Permission
    3. Role
  4. Select the desired access restriction method.
  5. Click the Update button.
  6. Click the Save button.
