OSU Choirs Hit the Big Apple
Join the Oregon State University Chamber Choir, directed by Dr. Steven Zielke; Bella Voce, directed by Dr. Tina Bull; and the OSU Meistersingers, directed by Russell Christensen, in New York for a historic concert in Alice Tulley Hall at the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, on Sunday, May 12, 2013.
The choirs will perform Vaughan Williams’ epic work, Dona Nobis Pacem, with orchestra and distinguished OSU alumni soloists:
Mari Stoner, soprano (class of 2011)
Nickoli Strommer, baritone (class of 2010)
With special guest performance by OSU alumnus Roosevelt Andre Credit.
The work features the Civil War poetry of Walt Whitman, set by Vaughan Williams in 1936 as he observed Germany preparing for war. The music is uniquely American and English, with the quintessential 20th Century English composer setting the words of America’s Poet. This performance will feature the groundbreaking and innovative multi-media creation of Dr. Kevin Patton, OSU assistant professor of music technology, providing the audience with an unforgettable experience of both sight and sound, all in the remarkable Alice Tully Hall, Lincoln Center.
After the performance, join Oregon State alumni and distinguished guests for a reception hosted by the OSU Alumni Association in Avery Fisher Hall at the Lincoln Center. The reception will feature guest performances, hors d'oeuvres, and drinks. Concert tickets and reception registration
