Advising
All majors are assigned a major advisor. This assignment is made by the Department Chair when the student declares an Ethnic Studies major. The major advisor generally is a professor of the student's area of specialization (i.e. African American, Chicano/a & Latino/a, Native American, Asian American Studies). Students may see their advisors during their posted office hours or contact their advisor directly to make an appointment at a time other than his or her designated office hours.
Minors may also be assigned an Ethnic Studies advisor if they so desire.
In order to register, students must acquire their Registration PIN from the department. We require that majors see their Ethnic Studies Faculty Advisor at least once a year to obtain their Registration PIN.
