Delta Delta Delta
The purpose of Delta Delta Delta is to establish a perpetual bond of friendship among its members, to develop a stronger and more womanly character, to broaden the moral and intellectual life, and to assist its members in every possible way.
Delta Delta Delta promotes and develops mutually beneficial relationships between the sorority and the college and universities where the sorority has established chapters, to develop qualities of unselfish leadership among its members, and to encourage them to assume, with integrity and devotion to moral and democratic principles, the highest responsibilities of college women.

Delta Delta Delta was founded in 1888 when Sarah Ida Shaw and Eleanor Dorcus Pond decided to come together through fraternal bonds. Both women attended Boston University where there were three “ladies societies” represented (Gamma Phi Beta, Kappa Kappa Gamma, and Alpha Phi). Shaw decided that she wanted to be a part of a group that was different than the others. Shaw envisioned “a society that shall be kind alike to all and think more of a girl’s inner self and character than of her personal appearance.” They moved quickly creating rituals, writing Greek mottos, and initiating 18 girls that first year. Ever since then Tri Delta has grown into what it is today with 138 collegiate chapters around the United States.
