That's My Farmer Program Promotion for Ten Rivers Food Web

When:           Wednesdays and Saturdays, 9am-Noon

Where:          Corvallis Farmers' Market (1st and Jackson)

Description:   Ten Rivers Food Web provides strategic leadership to build a robust and resilient food system in the Mid-Willamette Valley. Volunteers will work with farmers' market staff to raise awareness of the That's My Farmer SNAP program, which increases low-income access to local, healthy food. They will provide educational materials, and explain the program to market attendees. Volunteers will also ask interested attendees to donate to the program.

6 Volunteers Needed

Requirements: Volunteers must be 18 or older, be outgoing and comfortable talking with strangers, and have experience handling money. Volunteers will also need to complete a training in May (date and time TBA).

Data Entry and Office Assistant for Ten Rivers Food Web

When:           Summer, 1-2 times per month for 2-4 hours

Where:          Ten Rivers Food Web Office (101 SW Western Blvd.)

Description:   Ten Rivers Food Web provides strategic leadership to build a robust and resilient food system in the Mid-Willamette Valley. Currently, we are seeking one to two detail-oriented volunteers to enter data for our That's My Farmer SNAP program, which improves low-income access to local, healthy food. This data entry enables us to analyze the impact of the program, and thereby improve upon it to make local, healthy food more accessible and affordable. Opportunities to assist with other office tasks will likely be available.

Furniture Share Event Committee Member

Description:   Furniture Share is a non-profit organization that provides furniture at no cost to families and individuals in need within the vulnerable populations in the communities in Linn & Benton counties. We hold two main fundraisers during the year, Albany Grapes & Grains and our Annual Texas Style BBQ and Hoedown. Furniture Share is in need of two volunteer committees to help organize these fundraising events.

Albany Grapes & Grains features local brews, wines, food and local businesses. This is an event that we would like to grow into a 3 day festival.

Annual Texas Style BBQ and Hoedown has a raffle, live and silent auction, live music and all you can eat Chicken and Brisket all for $20.00 per adult and kids 17 and under are free and August 2013 will be our 4th Annual BBQ.

We are looking for each committee to help with recruiting volunteers, sponsors, vendors, wineries, breweries, secure auction items, sell tickets, display posters around town, set up for the event and help clean up after the event is over.

Tutor at the Jackson Street Youth Shelter

When:          Mondays-Wednesdays from 6:00-7:15PM

Where:           Jackson Street Youth Shelter

Description:   OSU tutors are needed to help tutor youth in various subject areas. Youth will be 10 to 17 year olds. Homework times are from 7:30-8:45pm Sunday through Thursday every night. You can sign up for 1-3 evenings per week. Personal tutors are needed as well and personal tutoring is more flexible in scheduling. Volunteers will need to fill out a volunteer application, have a background check, and go through a brief orientation.

ReStore Volunteer-Habitat for Humanity

Where:             Habitat for Humanity 1327 9th St., Corvallis

Description:   ReStore is a retail outlet for donated new and gently used building and home improvement materials.  Volunteers are primarily needed Tuesday-Friday between 3-5pm and any shift on Saturdays.  Volunteers would help with the following; filing, organizing volunteer registrations, and other miscellaneous tasks.

Stone Soup Volunteer

When:           Ongoing; Tuesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays

Where:          Basement of First Christian Church at 602 SW Madison in Corvallis

Description:   Need help with cooking the meal, serving the meal, prepping the dining room, and cleaning up after the meal.  Available shifts: Tuesdays 3:30PM -7:00PM, Saturdays 8:00AM-12:00PM, and Sundays 3:30PM-7:00PM.

Linn Benton Food Share

When:           Ongoing

Where:               33747 Looney Lane, Tangent OR

Description:   Repackaging food (ex. Frozen vegetables, cereal, beans, etc.) into smaller containers that will be distributed to those experiencing food insecurity. Projects can hold 20-30 participants.  Available shifts: flexible Monday-Sunday for a 2 hour block. OPEN HOUSE: Every last Thursday of the month from 6-8pm is an open house for volunteers as well (with the exception of December).
