Employee & Family Service Day Registration - Linn Benton Food Share 2.22.14
Submissions for this form are closed.
The 3rd Annual OSU Employee and Family Service Day will be held on Saturday February 22, 2014. The Linn Benton Food Share project will be from 9-11am. This event is sponsored by the Center for Civic Engagement and is part of the OSU Food Drive month.
THE LINN BENTON FOOD SHARE PROJECT IS NOW FULL.
Please complete a registration form for EACH member of your party. We are capped at 50 participants for this project and need each person to be registered separately. It will work best if the OSU employee registers all members of their party.
When: Saturday, February 22nd from 9am to 11am. Participants are asked to provide their own transportation and meet the group at the Linn Benton Food Share at between 8:50 and 9am. If you need a ride, please email Emily Bowling (firstname.lastname@example.org) as soon as possible and she will help find transportation arrangements.
What: Participants will help to pack and sort non-perishable foods to be distributed to local food banks, soup kitchens, and emergency shelters (all agencies served by Linn Benton Food Share) Susan James, Gleaning and Volunteer Programs Coordinator, will be present to answer questions, supervise the project, and give tours of the warehouse. Childen are welcome! They must be supervised by a parent/guardian for the duration of the event.
Why: This event is planned to encourage community engagement among OSU faculty, staff, and their families as well as to dovetail with the OSU Food Drive that runs every February. All of the donations collected during the OSU Food Drive benefit Linn Benton Food Share. This is an opportunity for the OSU community to provide direct service in addition to food and monetary donations to address local food insecurity and get a glimpse of where the food donated every February goes and how it is distributed.
What to bring: Volunteer Service Form for each participant in your party, water bottle (Volunteer Service Forms will be emailed to you the week of the event).
Attire: Please be sure you and your family members are wearing comfortable, closed toe shoes. Also, please dress warmly/in layers, it is fairly cold in the warehouse.
