Math 306 Documents
Last updated March 07, 2008
This page lists notes, sample
problems, etc., for Mth 306.
You may find this material useful for studying.
Many of the documents are in Portable Document Format (PDF) or are
Maple worksheets (MWS).
PDF files are "Portable Document Files." You can use the
free Adobe Acrobat Reader, available at
http://www.adobe.com, to view or print PDF files. The
Acrobat Reader plug-in is installed in the browser(s) on many
campus computers. There are many other software packages for
reading PDF files.
Problems
viewing or printing PDF files. Please report any problems you
have reading or printing my PDF files.
For some of the tests and sample problems below I have listed the
answers. When creating a list of problems I often edit the problems several
times but forget to edit the answers! I make a careful list of answers for
grading purposes, but that list is often lost. Other errors occur too. So take my suggested
answers with a very large grain of salt and check your answers, especially if we
disagree.

2005 Winter Mth 306 Matrix and Power Series Methods Sample Problems I
PDF,
44 KB, 5 pages, 16 problems with solutions
-
Answers: (Answers are included in the document).
Our test will be mostly, or all, multiple-choice. However I didn't
formulate any of the sample problems as multiple-choice problems because
of the extra time required. I have provided solutions to these problems.
You should not look at the solutions before your forehead is bloody from
beating it against the problems! You should not trust the solutions - I
might have spaced off and made errors. Try to find ways to check your own
solutions. It's a valuable skill.
