Health insurance is on a lot of people’s minds. With the failing economy and the possibility of loosing jobs, more and more people will be left without health insurance, and will become private pay patients, but ones without money, so that won’t help anything. Maybe the government will finally step in and put in place some plans to help cover people who are working but whose employers don’t offer any subsidized family health benefits, or any insurance at all. It just seems unfair to me that there are a whole bunch of people who are receiving Medicaid that don’t work, but the one’s who do and still can’t afford health insurance are up a creek. It seems to me that our government should come up with more supplemental assistance programs for people who are working but not quite making enough to survive. Working should be rewarded and our government needs to offer affordable health insurance plans to people who are working and just can’t afford high premiums all on their own. Even the Medicare system they have in place is barely taking care of the elderly, and most of them need to have supplemental insurance or pay lots of money for their medications. And believe me when I tell you that the price of prescriptions for the elderly can be thousands of dollars. One of the prices for living longer I am afraid is that you need to be on lots of drugs to do it. That is just the state of the world these days, using drugs to keep going because the world around us is in such a sad state that no one can cope without something to get us through the day. In any case, health insurance is a big issue and should be focused on more during this presidential campaign. I don’t know about you, but I don’t really care that Sarah Palin’s 17 year old is pregnant. Why are we not talking about the cost of gas, groceries, the housing market, the failing economy, the war that we have been in too long already, health insurance? We have all these big topics that we as a country should be taking by the horns and coming up with a strategy to deal with and instead we are focusing on some 17 year old pregnant girl? Well, I think that if they are working this hard to avoid the issues now, this country is in bigger trouble than we think!
