Debt consolidation
June 4, 2008 – 11:24 amIn these hard economic times it is quite important for people to make sure they keep a good hold on the current and future track of their personal finances. For people in college it is especially essential that they keep their eyes on their credit and debt consolidation in their monthly day planner. We are in a particularly interesting situations as students because we are working so that some day we can live in a debt free environment of our own controlling. Unfortunately for most of us the words eliminate debt don’t come in to play until we realize that the job we have selected after college is not enough to keep up on payments or minimum interest payments. This is one problem, like people buying houses they can’t afford and slowly watching their dream fall apart as they are living in them , college students spend years building a large personal debt and not much of that time is spent thinking about what they will do to pay it off. I personally have made sure to put my own way to consolidate debts at the forefront of my end of semester duties. I make sure that all of my interest has been paid off before I go on vacation. When I return for the semester I take a large chunk of my summer earnings to pay off some of the debt I have from the past two semesters. I think that my own methods of combating debt have worked out pretty well. Unless anything unusual happens like some kind of injury or intense and unforeseen economic downfalls I will have my debt paid off well before most of my peers. When I began college I met a few graduating seniors in their last semester who have now had about three years to pay off some of their debt. As of this point I have caught up on my debt much more than either of them. That alone makes me feel pretty good about my situation even with the prices of gas and food going through the roof. I think that whatever job I fall in to will surely be enough, and maybe even more, able in salary to get my debt gone in under five years without any help from my family.
